Motherhood is not for WIMPS!

Ain't that the truth!
My friend Alison gave me this book for my birthday and was reading through it the other day and thought I would share some of the thoughts with you:

Q: How many kids does it take to drive you crazy?
A: As many as you have.

To handle yourself, use your head.
To handle your children, use your heart.

The warmth of your home does not depend on your heating bill.
(This person has never lived in Chicago in the winter! ;-) HA HA)

There is no such thing as a problem child....
Just a child with a problem.

Ode to Joseph

This post is dedicated to my nephew Joseph.
Please accept my sincerest apologies Joseph I hope you like your picture!

A thought for the day - make that everyday!

"Do not allow yourself to be self-condemning. Avoid discouragement. Teach yourself correct principles and govern yourself with honor. Appropriately involve yourself in helping others. As we develop proper self-image in ourself and others, I promise you the "nobody" attitude will completely disappear. Ever remember wherever you are today within the sound of my voice that you are someone."
Marvin J. Ashton

Happy Love Day!

Meet Aunt Molly - the newest member of our family

This morning as I was giving Sarah a bath and the twins were "helping", I was trying to take advantage of the time and have a discussion with them about cleaning their stuff up after they use it or after they make a mess. I was talking to Ada about cleaning up all the hair accessories she drops on the bathroom floor every time she gets in the drawer to get one thing and of course her excuse was that she doesn't notice it when she drops them. (HMMM selective hearing and seeing? Bad combo!)
So I proceded to let them know that I would like some help just picking up after ourselves and putting stuff away. So Emilie says "What about Aunt Molly?", completely dripping with sarcasim and giggling. "Aunt Molly?" I said. Emilie - "Ya, Aunt Molly will clean it up" with more sarcasim and giggling.
I'm guessing "Aunt Molly" is the clean up ghost who comes after the the "Wasn't me" ghost?
Aunt Molly, where are you when I need you? :-)

The Big Cheese - The Sequel

It's been a long 3 1/2 months since Emilie was The Big Cheese at school, because since that time Ada has asked nearly every day how many more weeks until it's her turn. Finally her week is here to be The Big Cheese!

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary

The last two weeks have been exhausting mentally, emotionally and physically. I have sat down at the computer a number of times to blog and have been at a loss for what to say, not knowing how to put my thoughts and feelings into words (I know you are probably shocked hearing that come from me!) It's still hard for me to put into words the feelings and thoughts I have had over the last two weeks since Jeff's grandpa passed away.

The kindness, generosity and love that has been shown to the whole family is completely overwhelming. So much happened to our family in just the week from his passing to his funeral, it's still hard for me to wrap my little mind around it all.

So all I can really say right now is thank you to so many and leave you with one thought:

"There is no end in sight for the good you can do. The work of the world isn't done by geniuses. It is done by ordinary people who have learned to work in an extraordinary way."
Gordon B. Hinckley

And what is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary? Just a little extra.
He was the perfect example of what a little extra can do and did so much for so many in an extraordinary way.
